MYSORE ZOO

Today, I would like to share my experience of travelling to Mysore Zoo. As the name itself denotes, this zoo is in Mysore. This is one of the biggest zoo I have come across in my life with topiary gardens and well – maintained animals. Lots of tourists as well as localites come here to enjoy the beauty of the topiary gardens and to take a small ride on the electric vehicles which are provided to the tourists on demand and by paying a sum as a ticket. As we know, a common set of rules regarding feeding the animals, maintenance of the zoo etc are briefly inscribed at the entrance.
I got a chance to visit this place on a trip with family members. As we all know, visiting different places with family members is a different experience compared to going for a trip with friends. At the entrance, we were able to see a Giraffe who was grazing alone. Usually kids become excited when they see animals and my cousins are no exceptions. They were excited and started posing for pictures.

The Lonely Giraffe!

As we moved further, a variety of animals were displayed in a row according to different sections like reptiles, birds and animals of different species. Some parrots were lucky enough to reside in a big cage with plants inside while some other birds had a smaller cage. Different species of reptiles surprised me. Some looked creepy, some others looked like they are about to gobble us up while some remained silent. When it came to animals, most of the tourists, as you can see everywhere, were trying to break the rules by feeding the animals. One of the caretakers(Ofcourse, an employee of the zoo!) found this out and questioned them.
Moving on…
We were able to see different species of monkeys, tigers and other animals. Meanwhile a group of school kids who were clinging on to the electric vehicles screamed and howled at the animals as they passed by. A zoo visit once in a while is good and makes people feel happy. The gardens and topiaries of this zoo is note-worthy. One can never forget the beauty of the zoo. It is well –maintained too.

Access to this zoo can be done via road. As I have mentioned earlier in other posts, Mysore Railway station and Mysore Airport are the nearest destinations from where one can hire a cab or a rickshaw to access this zoo…
